THE WORLDS FASTEST INDIAN- A MOVIE TO INSPIRE

” Unless you’re chasing your dream you are just a vegetable” – Sir Anthony Hopkins when portraying Bert Munro.

Every now and again up pops a movie that is truly inspirational and the NZ production, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, of “The Worlds Fastest Indian “ is such a movie.

Based on the true life story of 60 plus year old Bert Munro from Invercargill, New Zealand, it tells in spell binding simplicity his lifelong quest to drive his 1920’s model Indian motorcycle (see below)

at over 200 miles per hour. The fact that it was originally designed to top out at just 54 miles per hour didn’t register on Bert and as you follow him and his passion, you also start to get the same mindset and on the way become mightily inspired.

There is great acting from Anthony Hopkins and the young Kiwi who plays Tom, the next door neighbours son,

is a perfect foil for Berts passion.

Hell I found a lot of ”me” in Bert and his love of a simple life, lack of , and unimportance of material things and his passionate drive to achieve his dream .My first viewing of it ( I( have now seen it twice and will certainly return again) came on a particularly stormy night in my personal life and, on a whim, I had decided to go see it.

I entered the theatre “stuffed” as they say and emerged with all cylinders firing and with my self belief in myself and humanity generally restored and I am sure you will be the same.

Go see it and you will see what I am driving at!
