Next Friday, the 30th June, sees part (and an exciting one at that) of my 43 year auctioneering career end when my resignation as Chief Auctioneer for Ray White NSW takes effect.

My decision to relinquish the role was brought about by my desire to concentrate on the development of my Fountain Auction Academy – a dream I have had for over 30 years and to build further my professional speaking career. I also wanted time to work more closely with the real estate offices that I have on an agreement basis for both auctioneering and training, as well as doing consultancies for other offices that need my or FAA’s services.

The move has been made some 18 years since I founded the Ray White auction operations in NSW (which saw us gain initial auction market leadership in just two years and which we held until my retirement caused through heart surgery in 1996) and three years since 2003 when I was asked to come back to Sydney to try and get Ray White back to number one, a feat accomplished in 2004 and which they have held ever since.

In that period I have had a wonderful time. I was involved closely in the setting up of Ray White, not only in NSW but also in WA, NZ and Indonesia and it was my experiences in all these market places, and with many, many talented people, that led to me both writing my book on auctions "The Complete Guide to Selling Real Estate by Auction",and developing our FAA course system.

My leaving does not mean that I will be hanging up my gavel! In fact, I intend to be active for as long as there is breath in my body both auctioneering and training auctioneers and salespeople in the finer points of auctioning and marketing real estate by auction.

It has been my life’s vocation and I will always be the bloke who is known to be passionate about auctions and about auctioneering and what they both can bring in a positive way by means of income and personal satisfaction.
